Game Within a Dream is a surreal animated short inspired by one of my personal dreams.
The story follows a girl trapped inside a retro arcade game world, where the boundaries between dreams, reality, and video games gradually begin to blur.
Created using a hybrid workflow that combines AI-generated imagery and animation with editing, sound design, music, and visual effects, the project explores both the possibilities and limitations of emerging AI tools. While visual inconsistencies and unpredictability remain part of the process, AI makes ambitious concepts achievable for individual creators in ways that would have been difficult only a few years ago.
Inspired by 1990s Japanese animation, arcade culture, and the concept of false awakenings, Game Within a Dream transforms a personal dream into a short surreal journey through layered realities.
